Some drawings will be done in class. However, you are also expected to draw outside of class. Observational drawings - meaning drawing things while you look at them - and copies of master's works are both recommended, as are drawings of sculptures in the Metropolitan Museum , which is located on 5th Avenue & 82nd Street. {The #4 and #5 subway lines stop nearby at 86th & Lexington.} The Met is open Tuesday through Sunday from 9:30 to 5:15, and open till 8:45 on Friday and Saturday evenings.

All of your work for this class should be done in your sketchbook. Do not submit other work {neither your own old work, nor other people's work} for class credit. Repeat: DO NOT!   But do remember the advice of the NY Yankee's wry catcher, Yogi Berra: "You can observe a lot just by looking."
