digital art : experimental animationprojects and deadlines |
To complete the class, you must complete three of the following five projects. Over these three projects, you must at least two different techniques. All of the three must include titles and sound. Although techniques are specified in some cases below, you may complete these assignments with any techniques we mention in class.
Using a digital camera (of your own or from the lab), shoot photos that tell a story using only still images. Then using the suite of iTools or FinalCut, make a photo album or movie with a soundtrack that illustrates the story.
For this project, you will concentrate on developing a great character (person or animal). The person must talk or make sounds and must move. The character can be made from clay, cut paper, or any other physical materials. We will create the basic animation in iStopMotion.
For the final piece:
-the character must have a voice (sampled or recorded)
-the animation must be 20 seconds minimum
Create a motion graphics animation in which the images express and synchronize with the audio element. The sound may be sampled from another source or original.
Using Flash, animate an original or found piece of text and set it to music.
Choose a fairy-tale. Then find a sequence which is cinematic in feeling. Create a short animation which depicts the sequence in an original way. Consider this an adaptation.... your graphics should interpret, update, even change the meaning or feeling of the original tale. You may also use music, text, or voice-over or any combination of the three.
