The diagram below indicates that the chloroplast is composed of several membranes: the outer boundry membrane, inner boundry membrane and the membrane of the granna called the thylakoid membrane. The area between the inner boundry membrand and the thylakoid membrane is called the stroma.


To understand the process of photosynthesis you will have to understand the structure of the chloroplast and the relationship between the thylakoid membrane of the granna, the intrathylakoid space and the stroma.
