BIOLOGY 63 - SUMMARY OF COURSE REQUIREMENTS

 

Course Prerequisites: - Biology 29.1 and Biology 38 (Biol. 45.1 is strongly recommended.)  Attendance at lectures is required.

 

Course Grades and Student Responsibilities:

 

The course grade is based on a student’s performance in a range of activities, which include the following:

1.  Homework - Homework assignments and assigned readings will made from

    time to time

2.  Students are expected to read the NY Times Science section every

     Tuesday.  Articles relating to ecology may be included in examination

      material.

3.  Exams - There will be one mid-term examination in addition to the final

     examination. Both of these will be primarily essay exams (some short, 

     some longer.) The final exam will be comprehensive.  The various

     activities contributing to the grade are as follows:

 

                    Midterm  -             35%

                    Final       -               50

                    Homework etc. -     15

Internet:  Students are expected to be conversant with the internet and are expected to use the internet, including any URLs provided by Prof. Franz, to supplement lecture and text.
