Properties and reactions of compounds of biological importance. Oxygen-transport proteins. Enzyme kinetics and mechanisms. DNA replication, mutation and repair. Transcription and the Genetic Code. Protein biosynthesis. Laboratory work emphasizes basic biochemical skills. (Not open to students who are enrolled in or have completed Chemistry 57.1) |
