Preparation of a mercury disk microelectrode based on solid silver amalgam.

A smooth mercury microelectrode of disk shape and of prolonged lifetime can be easily obtained by
deposition of an appropriate amount of Hg on a solid silver amalgam microdisk. The solid silver amalgam
disk can be prepared by depositing, successively, small amounts of mercury on a silver microdisk. The
excess of the solid amalgam formed, which is exposed over the insulation plane, must be removed, so
that the measured steady-state currents can be described by the appropriate equation for microdisks.
This problem was neglected in the earlier papers.
