Mint? 36 BCE Obverse TYPE: Bust of Octavian LEGEND: CAESAR DIVI F(ilius)	Reverse TYPE: temple of the Divine Julius

The temple shown on this coin was not actually built until 29 BCE in the Forum Romanum. Note the use of visual imagery that any Roman could decode:

• the sidus Iulium (comet of Julius) in the pediment, a sign of Caesar's apotheosis.
• memorial altar (left of the temple), which stood on the spot where Caesar's body was buried
• cult statue of the deified Julius
• note DIV IUL (the divine Julius) on the entablature
