Augustus' special association with Apollo, whom he regarded as responsible for the victory at Actium, is expressed in the spatial relation between the temple of Apollo and his own home on the Palatine. Augustus had adopted Apollo as patron during the years of rivalry with Antony; now he associated the Principate with Apolline virtues.

IMP XII alludes to the number of times Augustus has been officially saluted as Imperator (see RG 4)
