This coin forms a pair with the previous, on which bust of Pax and Octavian full-length were depicted. The importance of Pax, and the promise of stability and prosperity after the devastation of the civil wars, can hardly be overestimated.

Pax, peace, is associated with victory (the laurel) and with prosperity (cornucopia)
