This trireme (ship with three banks of oars) was built under the guidance of classical archaeologists and is owned and maintained by the Greek navy. Each summer a team of rowers (usually college students) trains together (coordinating three banks of oars is tricky business!) and then takes the trireme out for sea trials. To learn more about it, see the poster in the Classics Department Office (Boylan 2408).
