The title indicates the scope of this site, which also includes music. The
Regency lasted from 1811 to 1820, when the Prince of Wales served as Regent because of George III's
insanity (really porphyria?).

The Great Exhibition at the Crystal
Palace
For the Victorians the Great Exhibit of 1851 expressed
the glories and glamor of industry. And one of the wonders of the Great
Exhibition was the Crystal Palace; it captured their imaginations and,
in itself, represented the wonders of technology and industry. This site

The World in 1900: A Tour
Around the World at the End of the Nineteenth Century in Words, Music and Pictures
This collection of short movies made between 1894-1901
was exhibited a few times, unforunately not in the U.S. This site lists
the various films included. I was fascinated to see how many nineteenth
century events exist on film, like English troops leaving for the Boer
War and Drefyus in prison, and thought you might be interested too.

all of the 1901 British Census online. There is a fee for copies of data.

Newspaper Archive
Selected issues of nineteenth century newspapers--the
Daily News, Manchester Guardian, News of the World, and the Weekly
Dispatch-give a sense of what newspapers looked like and "felt"like.
This site is still under construction, so the search engine is not yet
functioning, the site supports only Internet Explorer 5 for Windows, and
screen resolution must be set at 1024 x 768 or higher.

groups. The section on the nineteenth century covers schooling, university
