As a simple, but useful measurement tool, field geologists have for centuries often relied on the technique of pacing to satisfy the need to know the distance between two points. The idea is to count the number of footsteps needed to traverse the distance between two points, and then to multiply this figure by the length of one footstep to get distance. | ||
