UPLIFT AND DEPRESSION

THE HYPOTHESIS: The crust of the earth is subject to forces that compress or stretch it. These forces may cause the surface of the earth to be locally uplifted or depressed relative to adjacent areas. Local uplifts may result in hills or mountains. Local depressions may result in lowlands or valleys.
PRESS THE BUTTON TO REVIEW THE RESULTS OF UPLIFT AND DEPRESSION.

TESTING THE HYPOTHESIS: If the hypothesis is correct for landforms of the NY City region, then certain predictions may be made.
The predictions should be such that if they are fulfilled, then the hypothesis is supported and strengthened. If the predictions are not bourne out, then the hypothesis is contradicted and weakened.

What you have to do:

RETURN TO THE TESTING HYPOTHESES MENU AND DEVISE A TEST OF THE UPLIFT AND DEPRESSION HYPOTHESIS.
