~ THE LANDFORMS OF NY CITY ~

~ STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM ~

This lab module investigates the general question:

  • How do geologists see, think and talk about the earth?

    More specifically, the question demands:

  • What kinds of questions do geologists ask?
    • What kinds of data do geologists collect?
    • What kinds of answers do geologists provide?
    • How do geologists come to agree on their conclusions?
    • Can geologists' conclusions be trusted?

  • You will arrive at answers to these questions by attempting to solve a specific geologic problem.

    The specific problem is:

    • How did the landforms of the New York City region originate?
