INSTRUCTIONS FOR MINERAL PROPERTIES AND MINERAL IDENTIFICATION ANSWER CHECKING TABLES

PLEASE NOTE: THE TABLES SHOWN ON THIS PAGE ARE NOT 'ACTIVE'.
The Mineral Properties Answer Checking Table allows you to check whether or not you have correctly determined the properties of an unknown mineral. First, click on the Sample Number Menu and highlight the number of your mineral. Next, using the eight properties menus, highlight any or all of the properties you have determined. (For one menu, you are instructed to highlight as many characteristics as apply. Do this by holding down the control key while you make your selections. Note that where you are invited to select more than one characteristic, you must correctly select all that apply, or you will be marked 'wrong'.) Next, click on the Check Button to see if your determinations are correct.

The Mineral ID Answer Checking Table allows you to determine whether or not you have correctly identified your unknown mineral. First, on the indicated menus, highlight the characteristics you have determined for each of the eight properties. (For one menu, you are instructed to highlight as many characteristics as apply. Do this by holding down the control key while you make your selections. Note that where you are invited to select more than one characteristic, you must correctly select all that apply, or you will be marked 'wrong'.) Next, select the Mineral Name that you have decided upon. Now, click on 'Check', and a message will appear in the text box at the bottom indicating whether or not you are correct. If you are not correct, a hint may be provided.
