| The midterm exam will cover chapters 1-8, 10, and 11 in Winters, together with my lecture notes and material covered in class. It will be a closed book, essay exam. The exam will be given from 3:30 to 5:10 PM on Tuesday, March 25, in the lecture room.

The following materials will be needed for the upcoming (Tuesday, March 25, at 3:30 PM) petrology midterm on igneous rocks:
- a blue or black pen
- a couple of # 2 pencils with erasers, plus a sharpener
- a 6-inch or foot ruler
- one or two colored pencils may be helpful
