THE ROCK CYCLE
The Rock Cycle shows relationships between geologic materials (rocks, sediment, magma, etc.) and processes (volcanism, weathering, melting, etc.). Materials are shown boxes with black backgrounds; processes in boxes with pink backgrounds. The arrows indicate the ways in which one material may be changed by a process into another material. For example, a metamorphic rock (a material) may be transformed into magma (another material) by melting (a process). Click on the boxes to learn about the materials and processes.
