This article appeared on the "BROOKLYN COLLEGE MAGAZINE" in an article titled "The Making of Mentors" written by Pat Willard. (Page 17)

Nehru E. Cherukupalli, former Broeklundian professor and past chairperson of the Department of Geology

"Michael was just beginning his graduate work when he came to apply for a job at the American Museum of Natural History that I had posted on my door. I took him to meet Martin Prinz, the chair of the meteorite department at the museum. We taught him how to use the equipment there, and he began to crank out data for our research. That's when he became interested in meteorites. Marty and I both encouraged Michael - he was useful to us, and we to him."

Michael Weisberg, M.A., '84, geologist Weisberg is a research associate at the American Museum of Natural History and an assistant professor of physical sciences at Kingsborough Community College.

"I feet as if I have grown up with Nehru. Before I met him, I was interested in minerals, but as soon as I started working for him I got excited about meteorites. You know, it's a long road to your doctorate, and I had a lot of doubts about myself and whether I would ever get through. Nehru supported and guided me the whole time. I'd say I was going to quit and he'd grab me and say, 'No, no, please, you can not do this."'
