Information for Brooklyn College Dietetic Internship Applicants

Thank you for your inquiry about the Brooklyn College Dietetic Internship Program (DI).  The DI provides nutrition graduate students with the supervised clinical training required to become registered dietitians.

Students who are accepted to the program will have completed an undergraduate didactic program in dietetics (DPD-Plan V) and have received a verification statement of completion from the program director. 

In addition, students must have taken 12 graduate credits in nutrition and be matriculated into the M.S. program in Nutrition at Brooklyn College.  The 12 graduate credits must include two required courses HNSC 7241X - Nutritional Aspects of Disease (formerly H&NTR 716X) and HNSC 7240X - Assessment Techniques and Nutritional Care (formerly H&NTR 716.1 X). Students beginning graduate coursework as of Fall 2011 must also complete HNSC 7213 Human Pathophysiology as a prerequisite to HNSC 7240 and 7241. Students must receive a grade of B or better in all their graduate courses. Applicants with graduate courses from other institutions may substitute the equivalent courses.

Students will be required to register for a graduate seminar course each semester which will be given concurrently with the supervised clinical practice component.

This request should be made to allow turn around time for submitting by a February 14th postmark deadline.  There is no charge for this material.  However, there is a $50.00 charge for computer matching that is due with the applicant's prioritized ranking.

The deadline for submission of the completed application packet is February 14th . Please make sure your application is complete, if it is not complete the application will be returned to you and you may forfeit your position in the program.
