Core 4: The Shaping of the Modern World is the department's basic introductory course to the development of modern world civilization since the Scientific Revolution.

In addition to textual sources, graphic images from the past can contribute to our understanding of events and developments.

On these pages we present a series of images keyed to the various periods covere in a typical Core 4  Syllabus.

The Banner at the head of this page enables you to jump from one index to another by selecting one of the eight main indices. When you select an index, the index of all pictures related to that period will be loaded (on the left of the current text), and you can select each picture.

Please note that the pictures have been "squeezed" so that they will fit - more or less, into one window in your browser. But you can see them in larger size by choosing (in Netscape) the "view image" option.
