The Shaping of the Modern World
Professor Donald F. M. Gerardi
Spring,
2003

This
special section uses multimedia technology and the
Internet to encourage interactive learning. In most weeks the class will meet on
Tuesdays for lectures, discussions, and other class work. Most
Thursday classes will be virtual. Instead of coming to class, students will use the Internet and Email to
examine materials, submit assignments, participate in discussion of sources, and take part
in collaborative learning exercises. The objective is to help in the mastery of core
materials and skills and to acquire information technology experience valuable for success in life
beyond the college. Students, incidentally,
get the benefit of more flexible schedules.
