This web-enhanced course will examine US history from the start of World War I (1914) until the start of the Korean War (1950). It is designed chronologically, with each of our class meetings exploring intensively the events of one year that in turn illustrate broader themes of the course.

REQUIREMENTS:

GRADES:

Papers: 25%, to include one document-based papers of 6-7 pages each, plus one response paper, on the topic of your oral presentation, of 3 pages.

Exams: 50%, to include a midterm and a final exam

bullet

Participation: 25%, to include participation in each week's caucus discussion, one oral presentation, and coming to class (usually) well prepared and (fairly regularly) willing to participate. This class won't work without the latter requirement being fulfilled.
