MIDTERM PREP

Here are the two essay questions:

1.) "In the end, Machiavelli was correct; international relations bear little resemblance to the theories articulated by either Vattel or Adam Smith." Do you agree? Discuss with reference to the American Revolutionary War and World War I.

2.) Using both the reading and the in-class material, compare and contrast how the following figures envisioned American democracy: Thomas Paine, Tocqueville, Abraham Lincoln, and Woodrow Wilson.
