INTEGRITY COMMITTEE REPORT
May 13, 2003

The Committee on College Integrity met on March 31, 2003 and again on May 5, 2003 to examine issues relating to the recent over riding [sic] of normal promotion and tenure processes at Brooklyn College. The Committee finds that the reputation of the College was undoubtedly damaged as a result of negative articles that appeared in various newspapers concerning this matter. We believe that every effort should be made to prevent further damage. Accordingly, the Committee presents the following statement to Faculty Council:

Although we deplore the many judgmental and negative articles that have appeared in the press concerning a recent promotion and tenure process, we believe that no benefit would accrue to the College if this committee were to issue a public statement on the matter.
