A
response paper
conveys
your assessment of assigned reading. For my courses, a response
paper (about 250-500 words) should not exceed two pages in a format with normal (11-12) font,
1-inch margins, double-spaced. It will present your main judgment
in an opening paragraph, and continue with an explication of the text,
using specific references and quotations. In stating your main
judgment, avoid personal or prefatory expressions;
NOT "In my
opinion..." or "I found this document to be...."
BUT "In the
assigned excerpts from Aristotle's Ethics, the author
presents...."
Also -- keep in mind the guidelines of
academic
honesty.
