CREATING 21ST CENTURY ACADEMIC PROGRAMS

The Minor in Archival Studies and Community Documentation

Supported by a University "New Visions Grant," Anthony Cucchiara (Library) and Adina Back (Library/History) worked with faculty from several academic departments, as well as consultants from various cultural institutions, to develop the curriculum for this new 15-credit minor. Co-sponsored by the Library and the History Department, this program will begin accepting students in 1999. The new minor requires fifteen credits and includes two required courses: History 69, Introduction to Archival Management (Professor Cucchiara), and History 69.2, Oral History: Theory & Methodology (Professor Back). Students will take another three credits from a broad array of courses and complete a six credit internship in a museum, archive, or other cultural institution.
