The Papers of Charles I. Glicksberg, writer and professor, contain correspondence, writings, publications, research notes, personal files, and memorabilia. Charles Glicksberg was an English professor. He also contributed hundreds of articles that were published in leading periodicals in the United States, Canada, England, and Australia, in addition to having authored numerous books.
Charles Glicksberg was not only a very prolific writer but one whose topics varied dramatically --from existentialism to perspectivism, from Communism and Marxism to democracy, from semantics and linguistics to God and the sexual revolution, from philosophy and psychoanalysis to poetry, literature, and nihilism. He authored extensive material on educational subjects (much of it for students) such as contemporary English criticism, comparative English literature, and a series of books titled U.S.A. that were devoted to young writers. In addition, Charles Glicksberg penned numerous critiques, commentaries, and literary reviews of works by others, and wrote about individuals such as Walt Whitman and William Cullen Bryant. The material on view here shows the reader the level of scholarly work done by Charles Glicksberg, and how knowledgeable and erudite he was on such a wide variety of subjects.
