SERIES DESCRIPTION

Series I.  Germany

The bulk of this series is comprised of Kleinman family financial records. In order to receive permission to emigrate, the Kleinmans had to submit tax returns and bank statements as well as detailed inventories of their possessions. Other documents included in this series are birth and marriage certificates.

Series II. United States

This series is made up of the post-war correspondence of A.I. Kleinman. In his attempt to locate family members in Poland, he contacted refugee agencies, U.S. and foreign governments and acquaintances in Israel. Once it had been established that his family did not survive the war, he arranged for memorials in their honor. He also put in a claim for restitution for his mother's property in Poland.
