This library is named in memory of its principal founder and first librarian, respected teacher and scholar Walter W. Gerboth.

Established more than fifty years ago and augmented by substantial bequests, the collection comprises printed music scores, collected works, sound and video recordings dealing with both music and dance. Playback equipment for on-site listening is available. General and specialized books about music and dance as well as a fine selection of periodicals and yearbooks round out the collection. Subject strengths lie in books about American music and performing editions of musical compositions.

Materials with a Brooklyn Music location in CUNY+ must be requested at the Music Library service desk in Gershwin Hall, Room 372.
