If your class at Brooklyn College requires that you visit and participate in a Caucus discussion group, follow the directions below to register for Caucus as a first-time user or to sign onto Caucus if you have visited the site before. You may want to print out these directions first and use them as you go through each step.

Step 1: Click on self-register

Step 2: Click on the User ID box and type in any ID you wish. Write the ID down so that you will have it when you visit Caucus again.
Step 3: Click on the Password box and type in a password that only you know (also write it down just in case you forget).
Step 4: Click on the Password, again to confirm box and type in the same password you just used.

Step 6: Re-enter your secret password, and
Step 7: Click on Press to Confirm password when done. |

Step 8: Necessary information: Enter your first and last names in the first two boxes. The other information is optional. You may not want to give your
telephone number, for example, for reasons of privacy.
Step 9: Click on Go to the Caucus Center

Step 10: Click on #3 A list of all conferences

Step 11: Scroll through the list of conferences and click on the conference name that interests you.
The list includes all Brooklyn College Caucus conferences alphabetically arranged. Your instructor can give you the name of your conference.
You can also look through the list of organizers to locate your professor's name and find your conference listed to the left of your professor's name. |

Step 12: Click on YES make me a member of the conference, and add it to my Personal Conference List.

Step 7: Click on the course conference for which you haave registered before from your personal conference list.

Step 8: Look at the list of items to find new items or new postings.
After you read new material you may add your responses or other ideas by:
Typing the text box, or
Cutting and pasting text from a word processor, or
Clicking on the Upload a file box, and follow instructions for uploading a file from your floppy disk.
Step 9: When you are finished, click Post + View to preview what you have just done.
Step 10: If you are satisfied with what you see, you can quit Caucus by clicking on Quit at the top of the page to exit from the Caucus site.
Step 12: If you are not satisfied with your text and want to change something, click on the Edit button (next to your response). Make your changes and Quit the Caucus site when you are ready. |
*** Important *** Always "Quit" from the Caucus site and "Quit" your web browser at the end of your session on
a campus computer used by other people. This is so no one else can visit the Caucus site using your name.
