What will I learn in a library workshop?

Library research workshops introduce:
  • Formulating and refining your (re)search topic
  • Using the library's catalog to find books and journals
  • Finding periodical articles - some are full-text online!
  • Finding and using resources in your discipline
  • Tips for searching the Web for valuable resources and how to cite them in your paper

    Library internet workshops introduce:

  • Formulating and refining your (re)search topic
  • The best sites for finding the i nformation you need
  • How to use search engines effectively
  • Finding full-text resources
  • How to evaluate the quality of the information you find on the Web

    All students are welcome to any library workshop sessions.You are encouraged to bring a specific research question to the workshops.

    What if I can't make it to a library workshop?

    If you absolutely cannot attend one of the scheduled workshops, please consider one of the following options:
  • Ask a reference librarian for help with your research (ALWAYS a good option).
  • Check out the online tutorials.
  • Get together a group of 5 or more students, and contact Professor Regalado at (718) 951-5510 or regalado@brooklyn.cuny.edu to set up a session.
