The two Multimedia Classrooms located in the Library are now available for you to reserve for your classes. These Internet-enabled classrooms allow your students to learn using interactive modules on computers with advanced graphics and sound capabilities. Faculty may also use these rooms to teach their colleagues how to create multimedia applications using new media tools. These classrooms are adjacent to the Faculty Training and Development Lab (019 Library), whose staff support faculty who are teaching in them.

Pursuant to the guidelines developed by the Advisory Committee on Academic Computing, these classrooms serve as adjuncts to regular classroom meeting spaces: these room cannot be reserved for every class meeting throughout the semester. Instead, reserve these special rooms for those occasions when you need access to a high-end, networked, multimedia facility. (These guidelines will enable the rooms to serve the largest possible number of classes and students, across many disciplines.)

You have a choice between the Windows 95 (Classroom A) and Macintosh (Classroom B) computer operating systems. Each classroom accommodates 24 participants. (A small number of additional chairs is available, enabling some students to share machines.) Each classroom has two stations (front and rear) for the instructor's use, which broadcast their screen displays to four large-screen, ceiling-mounted monitors. Installed in each room is a SoftBoard input device, which will broadcast your writings and drawings to the ceiling-mounted monitors. Both classrooms also have a screen which may be used for traditional projections. The rooms are climate-controlled and feature a combination of fluorescent and incandescent lighting, which is fully adjustable. Furthermore, you are invited to take advantage of the closets and cabinets to store your class materials during the semester.

NOTE: Please arrange to meet with the Manager of the Faculty Lab, well before your inaugural class meeting, to address your special hardware and/or software needs for the classes you plan to conduct in these spaces.
