Jamaican and Trinidadian Communities of Brooklyn

Progress Report - May 2001

  • A second, temporary, Project / Field Assistant was hired and began work on May 14, 2001.  His duties include researching potential organizations for survey.
  • Follow-up contacts (phone & e-mail) continued as did the scheduling of face-to-face meetings.
  • Referrals to other organizations were made as a result of the first contacts; letters of introduction were mailed, with follow-up calls to be made in the weeks ahead.
  • Representatives of several organizations have expressed interest in participating in the survey; other organizational leaders are in the process of discussing the matter with membership / committees, etc.
  • Academic research about the Jamaican and Trinidadian & Tobagonian community continues.
  • The Project web site was updated; it has been listed by additional search engines / directories.
