Language has many parts. They're put together in certain ways to make speech

meaningful and to enable clear communication. Think of these parts of speech as the rivets and pipe work for a bridge. That bridge links two individual places together and
provides a sturdy passage for  vehicles traveling between the two places. For writing, that bridge is language and those vehicles are ideas. These ideas must flow back and forth between people. If that bridge is not put together just so, it all falls apart. If language is not constructed well, communication between the writer and the reader falls apart! Since we are the makers of the Communication Bridge, it's important how these parts connect.
Helpful Hints:
Looking for a fun way to remember how parts of speech function? When you're done reading a section, click on the hyper link - (the blue underlined text) -  to head for the "Grammar Rock" site online. Listen to a rock song about that speech part, read the lyrics, and check out the cool graphics. If you're still confused (or if you're still looking to have fun), you can even watch the accompanying video!
