ON READING
    Different texts require that you read them differently. You will almost certainly not read the daily newspaper as you read a textbook. You will most likely skim the newspaper and slowly read the textbook for details that must be remembered. 

    The key to understanding any book, novel, essay, or any written text is in how you think about it. The thinking process requires that you break the reading down into understandable bits, reflect upon them, and react to them. To begin to read and think about any text requires several steps:
