end of sentence to tell us that the sentence is a question:

Notice the location of the question mark in each case.

With
Questionable Material - When the accuracy of a piece of information,
a partial word, or a date or number is in question, use the question mark.
In other words, some bit of material just before the question mark may
not be exactly correct. Notice that the question mark appears within brackets:
The
calibration (?) of the car wheels is off.
Christopher
Columbus discovered America in 1492 (?) and claimed the land for Spain.
