Punctuation: Every punctuation mark has certain rules that govern its placement in a text and its function. It's best to review "Bean's Punctuation Diner" to see how certain marks are used. Many writers over-punctuate their text to make certain that they have all the necessary marks. However, punctuation in unnecessary places is just as bad as not using punctuation at all! So, when you proof your work, ask yourself, "Why did I put that mark in that spot?"
