Beware the Bugaboos!

Remember that there are more language problems than are listed in the unit "Writing Imps". Homonyms cause the most problems. (Homonyms are words that sound alike but have different meanings). When you are in doubt, grab your dictionary and double-check!

    Its / It's:
"Its" is a possessive pronoun while "It's" is a contraction meaning "it is".
It's a happy sight to see a mother cat licking its fur contentedly.

     Than / Then
"Than" is used in comparisons; however, "then" relates to an order in space or time.
The Batman Roller Coaster is faster than The Cyclone Ride.
First we'll get dinner, then we'll finish the project.
There's quite a list of homonyms at this site!
