WRITE: Book 9, chapter 32 --- in my edition page 440: after the first two-line break.
The passage, about 3 pages, begins with Kay who ran away to New Hampshire with the children. Hagen tracks her down and explains the logic of what happened, why Michael had to kill, and why killing will never stop.
This episode begins with a reference to a church and ends (443) with Kay's capitulation. Her surrender is capped by a significant change in her spiritual life that symbolizes total acceptance of the logic and values of the Family.

WRITING: did Puzo set a trap, leading you to root for Don Corleone and his family against their enemies; and then revealing at the very end that you were rooting for evil, violence, brutality and inhumanity without even realizing?
Did Coppola see through Puzo's spider web and framed the film in such a way as to signal the evil nature of this world?
Do you have other hypotheses about hidden messages?
Do you even believe there are hidden messages in the book or film?

FOR PRACTICE: how much do you remember from The Godfather?
