CONJUGATIONS:     -ARE   VERBS

All REGULAR verbs that end with -ARE  follow the same pattern.

PRESENT TENSE OF AMARE 

 

Io        am-o  (I love)

Tu      am-i

Lui     am-a

Noi    am-iamo

Voi    am-ate

Loro am-ano

 

AMARE:

  • The STEM of AMARE is   AM-  it is invariable, it never changes
     

  • -ARE is the suffix of the INFINITIVE FORM: AMARE = TO LOVE

 

"Infinitive form" simply gives you the MEANING of the  verb. It doesn't say who performed the action, when and how.

EXAMPLE

TO LOVE
  (infinitive form)   simply gives you the idea.  

I LOVE
 tells you WHO ( the subject) and WHEN (the tense, time)

 

The same pattern applies to USARE

  • THE STEM OF THE VERB DOES NOT CHANGE.
     

  • Each subject  has a specific SUFFIX.
