CONJUGATIONS:     -ARE   VERBS

All REGULAR verbs that end with -ARE  follow the same pattern.

PRESENT TENSE OF AMARE 

 

Io        am-o  (I love)

Tu      am-i

Lui     am-a

Noi    am-iamo

Voi    am-ate

Loro am-ano

 

AMARE:

  • The STEM of AMARE is   AM-  it is invariable, it never changes
     

  • -ARE is the suffix of the INFINITIVE FORM: AMARE = TO LOVE

 

"Infinitive form" simply gives you the MEANING of the  verb. It doesn't say who performed the action, when and how.

EXAMPLE: 

TO LOVE   (infinitive form)   simply gives you the idea.  

I LOVE  tells you WHO ( the subject) and WHEN (the tense, time)

  • THE STEM OF THE VERB DOES NOT CHANGE.
     

  • Each subject  has a specific SUFFIX.
