• UN: in front of masculine words beginning with consonant or vowel

• UNO: in front or masculine words beginning with Z or with a cluster of S followed by another consonant (S+ consonant. Ex: uno zio, uno stadio.
   

• UNA: in front of feminine words beginning with consonant.

• UN': in front of feminine words beginning with a vowel: un' idea, un' ora.
