MEMORIE Le memorie, i ricordi . . . Infanzia, adolescenza perdute nelle scie misteriose
dell’indefinibile . . .
. . . E infine . . . fughe in terra
straniera . . . Qui, col mio amore, lasciando indietro i morti. MEMORIES Memories, remembrances . . . My childhood, my youth are lost in the mysterious trails of the
undefinable . . . Faces, images of the village, hopes, screams of anguish, old cliches of lost illusions
. . . And finally . . . escapes to
the foreign land . . . Here, with my love, leaving the dead
behind. VECCHIO
OLD WORLD Here,
among the faces of unexperienced youths who
look at me, anxious to know . . . “Tell
us about your land, about its mysteries . . . Take
us to the enchantment of its age-old myth. We
are tired of cold and mechanic appearances that
stifle our desire to fly . . . We
are tired of living in the new. Take
us back to the old world of
castles and princes, in
the ancient palpitation of a dream.”
. . . ALIEN Alien
in my native land in
a Trinacria which is now unknown, a remote island abandoned
by the god Neptune, blue,
washed by a rough sea . . . I
. . . am now too far away from the island rocks, alien
from their small horizons, Medusa
without a port, I
am in love with the god of the sea. SICILIA
leggende, ora aliena, triste osservatrice, straniera in terra madre. BITTER
SICILY Landing on this burning Sicily, ancient island of light and mourning, sated with centuries of dominations, dozing in a timeless sun, laying on the millenary torpor of
encroaching folklores, in vain searching for the reason of so many centuries of immobility and the cause of my escape, “I,” faceted identity, now lying under that alluring sun, now, instead, “a visitor” studying the island’s sounds, now integral part of those centuries and
legends, now alien, sad observer, stranger in my motherland. 25 DICEMBRE
1993 Natale,
lontano dall’isola in
quest’anno di sogni e di speranze. Ancora
una volta in terra straniera, anima
reietta, scappata al di là del mare . . . Sei
lì davanti a uno schermo incomprensibile, cercando
di afferrare un Natale romanzesco di
doni a te sconosciuti . . . Sei
lì a captare suoni indecifrabili, mentre
e tombole avvincenti. Ed
è lì che ritrovi te stessa, in
quel vagheggiare nostalgico delle
tue origini. 25 DECEMBER
1993 Christmas, away from the island in this year of dreams and hopes. Once again in the foreign land, outcast soul that escaped beyond the
ocean . . . You are there in front of an
incomprehensible screen, while trying to grasp a fictitious
Christmas of presents that are unknown to you
. . . You are there to capture indecipherable
sounds, while your mind wanders beyond the ocean, and it plunges itself dreaming into the
Christmases of times past among living Nativity scenes and dancing
nights, panettoni and charming tombolas. And it is there that you find yourself
again, in that nostalgic longing for your
origins. |
