CREATE YOUR OWN WEB PAGE
For the purpose of this workshop we are going to address only two ways of creating Webpages.
1. The simplest and most direct way is to sign up with one of the many online services that host personal Webpages for free. Among them, TRIPOD.COM is a well know and easy to use site. Go to www.tripod.com and sign up. You will be instructed on the use of TRELLIX, an HTML authoring tool. Remember your username and password. For the record, if you ever want to use an FTP program to upload your pages, the address is
2. The second possibility is to create a Webpage from scratch. In this case you will need an HTML authoring program and an FTP program to upload your files to a Webserver. You must also have space reserved for you on a server, with password to access your space. Create a folder either on your harddrive or on a floppy disk. You may want to name the folder "Web" or something similar. Go to START > FIND > FILES AND FOLDERS In the "named" textline, type FRONTPAGE. Click on the icon of FRONTPAGE EXPRESS. Go to FILE, SAVE AS, SAVE AS FILE, and name your file "index". Save in the folder you created. Save all images you want to use in your home page in the same folder. In FRONTPAGE, using the appopriate tools, add images and text. If you want to add a link to another Website, use the appropriate tool. Save the file. At this point you are ready to FTP the document and all the images. Open a browser and check out your masterpiece online.
