FNES 730 – MECHANICAL ANALYSIS OF HUMAN MOTION

individual research assignment

Each student has been randomly allocated 1 of the following topics for the individually written research assignment. The paper should cover the clinical condition (OR activity) AND sample population from a BIOMECHANICAL PERSPECTIVE.

The paper should NOT exceed 4 double-spaced typed pages (references should be listed on a separate page) complete with 1-inch margins all around using a 12-point font. Each paper should be based on AT LEAST 6 separate, recent references (published within the last 5 years) with references listed as primary sources (the original journal articles) whenever possible. References may come from a variety of disciplines including Physical Education, Exercise Science, Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, Physical Therapy, Rehabilitation, etc. and MUST be attached as an appendix at the end of the paper when submitted for grading at the beginning of class on Thursday, May 2, 2002.

    1. Rotator cuff injuries of baseball players.
    2. Anterior cruciate ligament injuries in female collegiate athletes.
    3. Stress fractures in military recruits.
    4. Swimming and its effect on bone strength.
    5. Resistance training and its effect on bone strength.
    6. Muscular adaptations regarding strength and power in the elderly.
    7. Flexibility and its effect on sprint performance.
    8. Stress fractures in female dancers.
    9. Exercise programs and their effect on osteoarthritis.
    10. Strength training programs and their effect on adolescents.
    11. The effect of plyometric training in athletic performance.
    12. Body and joint positioning for hamstring and quadriceps strength training.
