If a neutron transferred from oxygen to lithium, the products would be lithium with mass number 8 and oxygen with mass number 15. But according to the Nuclear Table these two nuclei do not exist. Therefore the reaction could not go in that direction. [Actually these two nuclei do exist, but they are radioactive with very short half-lives; hence they were not put in the Table.]
