Department of Political Science
Paisley Currah teaches political theory,
constitutional / public law, and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender
studies.
His research
focuses on the state construction of gender in the U.S. He has widely
written on the legal status of transgender and gender nonconforming
people in the US. His current work explores how the state
definitions of gender shift depending on the legal and social context.
He
is a guest co-editor, with Lisa Jean Moore and Susan Stryker, of Trans-,
a special issue of WSQ (Women's

Paisley
Currah received an M.A. and Ph.D. in Government from Cornell University
and a B.A. (Hon.) in Political Studies from Queen's University at
Kingston, Canada.
