The Department of Psychology offers the following scholarships and awards for our majors. A committee from the Psychology Department designates winners each Spring. Applications for these awards can be picked up in the Psycho70sy Department undergraduate office, room 5315 James Hall.
An endowment of S18,000 established by Mrs. Sylvia Korchin in memory of her late husband, Prof. Sheldon Korchin. a graduate of Brooklyn College (Class of '42) and ex-director of the Clinical Psychology Program at the University of California. Berkeley. The proceeds from this endowment provide an annual award to a disabled or minority student who intends to pursue graduate studies in psychology.
This award is for academic excellence for students majoring in Psychology.
An annual award of $500 to an Asian American graduating senior psychology major that intends to pursue graduate studies in psychology. This award was established in memory of Prof. Lee's mother, P.C. Lee, who had the foresight to encourage her son to pursue a career in Psychology.
An annual award of $500 to a minority student majoring in psychology who intends to pursue graduate studies in psychology. This award was established by Prof. Lee's wife, Emily L. Lee, in memory of her grandparents. Mr. & Mrs. A.P. Lin. who shared a deep caring for minorities.
An annual award of S500 to a junior majoring in psychology and intending to pursue graduate studies in psychology. This award was established in memory of the Snadowsky's parents. Jack and Florence Snadowsky.
The Wantman Prize is an annual award of $100 to the graduating senior scoring highest on a special exam. Applicants must be Psychology majors, have achieved a grade of "A" in Statistics (Psychology 40.1), and have completed or be currently enrolled in Experimental Psychology (Psychology 57).
