task 1

Copy and paste the following statement:  "Compiti with the wrong filename and/or email subject will be deleted"

task  2: REFLECTION: do you need to study differently to

1) do better;

2) learn for the long term (not for the 5-minutes university graduation.)

 task  3: what is your horoscope for this week? Just write a list (NO BULLETS) of words that show what you understood. Play the video more than once. http://www.simonandthestars.it/

Don't forget to answer the question: DI CHE SEGNO SEI? .......,

task  4:   oggi e domani, lezione 1 pagina 3

Go to the table that starts with DAVID's image

Read out loud the words, both the SINGULAR and PLURAL forms.

BEFORE you look up the rules for SING-PLUR, try to figure out how this works, based on the data in front of you (skip the articles IL LO LA etc. we will do it later.)

Hint: there is a regularity, a system, similar to that for the MASC- FEM system.

=========

NOUNS

  • in Italian have GENDER (maschile o femminile) and a NUMBER (singolare e plurale.)

    • In English they only have NUMBER (the only NOUN that grammatically has a GENDER in English is "SHIP" which is feminine ("boat" too, but by analogy. In origin, in Old English only SCHIP was feminine. Your guess why this was: I have my own theory that goes straight to the origin of language itself, based on cognitive signaling knowing as Etimology.)

  • nouns also have NUMBER (singular and plural). English has that too.

ADJECTIVES

  • they are attached to nouns and they must agree in GENDER AND NUMBER with the noun.

    • in English adjectives are INVARIABLE: they don't even have a plural form

==========================

Using the same table / nouns:

Write : your hypothesis for the RULE for SINGULAR - PLURAL: look at the endings

Check the rule here and see if you were correct: LINK

Write : analyze the rule and compare with your hypothesis. Were you right? If NOT, where were you wrong and, most important, WHY? What did you miss? What do you need to pay attention to?

DISPENSA: LINK  ignore the articles, focus only on SINGOLARE AND PLURALE. Scroll down to the two BIG tables with lots of nouns, respectively, ESERCIZIO 1, ESERCIZIO 2.

DO only the column PLURALE and TRADUZIONE.

Take a series of screenshots with the complete answers: don't worry about filenames. I will only take a look at them without correcting/grading. Attach the images to your email.

task  5: write DISPENSA LINK

SKIP THE articles, look only at the words.

Complete the table. COPY the input words and give your answers (no articles).

At the bottom, write the EXCEPTIONS both in SINGOLARE AND PLURALE.

RECORD  record all the words singular and plural.

  task  6:you learned the verbs DIMOSTRARE, SEMBRARE, and other - ARE verbs.

Refresh your memory: on the homepage, above the list of LEZIONI, click the link LANGUAGE LESSONS VIDEOS:

right-side column, find CONIUGAZIONE VERBI -ARE and CONIUGAZIONE VERBI -ERE

(There is an old New York joke / bon mot: "How do I get to Carnegie Hall?" "Practice, practice, practice.")

 PRATICA screen shot of your verb practice table with VEDERE, CREDERE
