Suspend Sentences
Of 3 Girl Pickets
Three women
students, arrested on February 14 for picketing Dean's Cafeteria. 577
Fulton Street, failed to appear at their trials on April 16 and were
tried separately from the other girls who were arrested with them.
Warrants were
issued for the arrest of the girls for contempt of court. Two of the
girls had examinations which could not be postponed and one forgot
about the trial.
When the case was
brought up, the girls were given suspended sentence.
The four girls who
were tried by Magistrate L. Eilperin on April 19 were put on six months
probation and were vigorously denounced by the magistrate.
