CITY COLLEGEConflicting reports and speculations about the disturbances at City College coupled with the variety of ideas formulated about the matter make the expressions now of a fair concensus [sic] of opinion problematical. The significance of the disturbance which by now seems to involve the broader question of courtesy, civil liberties–how far and by whom these may be enjoyed–the nature of our higher education and its administration should not be overlooked. It would be a desirable though unique procedure to wait until the now sketchy reports are substantiated and until overwrought emotions are brought under control before returning final verdicts. |
